No. of Pages=318 I got this book from Local Library in New jersey, upon high recommendation from my brother's grand daughter. She said, she could not put it away. I found it interesting as well. The theme is quite unusual. Give you a brief synopsis. The story is set in South America, a small unidentified nation. This nation is looking for some foreign investment and lure a big japanese industrialist to come to their country. The biggest lure was to celebrate his birthday at which a famous opera singer has been engaged to perform. The japanese Industrialist is a great fan of the opera singer. During the celebrations the guests are taken hostages by rebels and are kept in captivity for a very long time. The book beautifully describes inter action between the hostages. Since this was high profile party, diplomets from all different nations are invited. As a result non og the two hostages speak same language except for one. This mutilangual person is japanese industrialist's assistant. He becomes involved with people of all different nationalisits. Now relationships start to devolop among the hostages. It has been delecately handled by the auther and keep you involved. Good book to read although not great.
