Description:
No. of Pages=283 This book is based on true story. It goes into the details of the author’s experience of living and helping Afghan women. I got interested about the plight of Muslim women in Afghanistan after reading books like Kite Runner and many other books. It is a sad state of affairs about how women are treated in the Muslim world. The author, an American who lived in Afghanistan saw this first hand and tried to help the women in Afghanistan by teaching the local women about how to become beautician by starting a beauty school in Kabul. Her idea was to train local women to give them an opportunity to start their beauty salon and become independent. Taking into consideration the taboo about women need to confined inside the house, the author meet resistance and strong opposition from the government and men folks. It is an interesting book reasonably well written to keep your interest going. Especially, if you are interested to understand the plight of women in the Muslim world, it is a good book to read. I liked the book.
