Description:
No. of Pages=591 This is a story of a poor working class farming family in New Zealand barely making both ends meet. Then a very rich sister of the family head dies and all of a sudden, the family inherits a large estate and a large mansion in the North West Australia. The ‘OUTBACK” country. In Australia, the story revolves around a beautiful daughter and a priest. It deals beautifully about the struggle of the priest between duty to the church and his love for this beautiful girl. The author has given a very nice view of the life in the out back; the place which sounds so romantic is full of bugs, snakes, and other reptiles. Scorching and soaring sun. It is a very well written book. Before starting on this book, on of the review said….I could not put it down. I found it to be true. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and almost till the end had decided to give this book 5 stars. As far as I am concerned, the book should have ended on page 451. But the author decided to go no and on and I lost all interest in the last chapter. Normally in a book the ends are something you look forward to. But this book is an exception. The end came first and then the book continued. For this reason I took one star away (as if it matters for this book written in 1977)
