Description:
No. of Pages=560 This is one of the finest real life adventure books read by me so far written in first person. It is a real life story, recorded by the writer in thirteen notebooks. The book is absorbing and interesting throughout. No dull moment. It keeps you going and you keep turning the pages, completely mesmerized and in awe of the determination and will power of the person on the run for freedom. This is story of Henri Anntoine Charriere aka PAPILLON who was for a murder, which he did not commit. The French police manipulated the testimony of some witnesses such that the jury of 12 people sentenced him to life imprisonment. Papillon was shipped to French Guyana in South America. This is where French sent their hard-core convicts to be away from the civilized society. From day one Papillon starts planning his escape for freedom. He escapes from the jail in boat, which takes him away over a thousand mile. In short he escapes several times with meticulous planning and there are many failed attempts. Without giving away the story line, the man possessed determination, perseverance, sharp mind and strong will to be free. I give this book 5 stars, since I do not have any more in the system
