Description:
No. of Pages=1070 This book was recommended to me by me brother, who liked this book so much that he read it twice. But, I could not put the courage to tackle this as a project, since this book is in small print and is 1070 pages thick. Finally, I got started with it and enjoyed it. This book is quite different than the mystery and suspense themed books that I had been reading during the past few months. This is a story of barons. One family is in the railroad business The Taggard family. The second character is in the steel manufacturing business. His company is called Reardon Steel. The third person is in copper mining business and he is from Argentina. His company is called Francisco d’Anconio Copper. There is a radical too in this plot his name is John Galt. He is there to change the world and is the centerpiece of Ayn Rand’s philosophy of selfishness. There is lot of interaction between the characters. The plot thickens and the book gets very interesting when Dagny Taggard Vice president of operation of Taggard Transcontinental railroad enters the scene. She is quite a dynamic and lightening rod character created by the author. I am sure most of you have already read this book, which was written 50 years back. I give this book **** stars. It could have been 4-1/2 stars but I thought John Galt’s speech was way too long winded.
