No. of Pages=416 This interesting book essentially three small books in one. The centeral character in all three stories is Sam McCready of British Secret service. He is being considered for the appointment of Chief of a new department being created .The new Department is called the "THE DECEIVER" . To consider San McCreadd's qualifications for the job the committee is reviewing three of his past assignments. The three assignments are completely independent of each other. One is set in Russia, the other in Lybia and the third is in Caribbian. Each story is absorbing and interesting in typical Forsyth intersting style. My only problem with Forseyth books is that he introduces too may characters, some of the characters could he have done without. If it were not for this problem, I would have given this book one extra star. For now Feddy boy will have to do with three stars.
