Description:
No. of Pages=372 Base on author's first book which was very good and a best seller, I bought his second book which is reviewed here. I did not know what to expect.Khalid Hussaini has not disappointed. As his earlier book the story is also set in Afganistan. It deals about the life of average Afgan women living under suppressed society. It starts with Russiob occupation then to mujahidin cntrol and finally life under Taliban. I came to nknow about the crual and ruthless rule of the Taliban. A funny excmple about the mindless fanatism, A painter painted a crane and showed the bird with beautiful long legs. The taliban compliance petrol termed the painting obscene and made the painter paint trousers on the painting of the crane. It is a touching story of two women, who by fate become rivals and then turn into each other's best friends and well wishers. Yogether they fight the system. It is a story about secrfice and love written in auther's beautiful writing style. it keeps you interested in the story and keeps you absorved. It is a touching story. A well written and interesting book.
