Description:
This is perhaps the first book by this Iranian young woman. She has done a good job of writing this novel. The language is simple. The story flows nicely and keeps reader’s interest throughout and till the end. The theme is cross cultural like in Namesake., but the story is quite different. This story relates to the experiences of a 27 year woman visiting her sister from Iran on a 3 months visitors visa. In three months she must get married to a green card holder to be able to stay beyond 3 months. This is what her sister living in Tucson AZ and her parents living in Tehran want. The book takes you through what life in Iran is compared to the freedom The United States. The women are oppressed to the limit in Iran. At places the book is funny while keeping one interested in finishing the book. The book also gives insight to the oppression of women in Iran. It is a3000 page book and I give it ***½ stars. Take this book on a train ride or plane ride and you will finish it by the time you are back. My daughter who is an avid reader, just finished this book and said she could not put it down and recommended **** for this book.
